 Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski is a second largest town in Świętokrzyskie province taking into account its size and number of inhabitants. Ostrowiec is located 170 km from Warsaw, 60 km from Kielce, 120 km from Lublin, 30 km from Sandomierz, 10 km from Bałtów, 30 km from the Świętkorzyskie Mountains and about 200 km from Cracow.

The landscape of the region is dominated by the Świętokrzyskie Mountains - the oldest mountains in Europe, and the Kamienna River.
The following places are worth seeing in Ostrowiec:
- The urban structure of the middle town and a network of streets starting in its corners which all is a typical example of a town localization originating from the end of 16th century.
- St Michael Church from the beginning of 17th century rebuilt in the 20th century into a neo-baroque style.
- An old post road-house originating from the run of the 19th and 20th centuries.
- The remains of a Jewish memorial park from 18th century.
- Small manor houses from the run of 19th and 20th centuries
- A baroque St Stanisław Biskup Church from the end of 16th century rebuilt in 18th and 19th centuries with an old graveyard.
- An old palace of Wielkopolscy from the second half of 19th century situated in a park dating back to 18th century.
- The main office building from the 20-ties of 20th century with a monumental colonnade in a Palladian style.

The mosaic of the region is created by:
- The Iłżecka Forest with unique Neolithic flint mines located in the "archeological reserve Krzemionki" in Krzemionki, near Ostrowiec
- Jeleniowski and Świętokrzyski National Park with a monastery from 12th century.
- Ancient Roman centre of metallurgy from 1st to 4th centuries in Nowa Słupia.
- Roman collegiate from 12th century in Opatów.
- Ćmielów and its 200 years old porcelain factory.
- Jurassic Park in Bałtów - the only one in Poland.
